Workshop: Conflict Regulation for Parents

Every relationship has conflict. Relationship success is largely determined by how conflict is handled.

This is a virtual stand-alone workshop for parents (and parents-to-be) who are interested in learning how to work together to regulate conflict more efficiently.

Why is this important?
Research has shown the following effects of a distressed relationship on children:

  • Parents have more difficulty coordinating with each other.

  • Parent-Child interactions are more negative.

  • Infants withdraw from their less involved parent, not looking to them in situations in which they would normally look to an adult for reassurance or feedback.

  • Children are at risk for developing mental health problems.

  • Children are less physically healthy and get sick more often (catch colds, etc.).

  • Children are at increased risk for developing behavioral problems.

  • Children do less well in school.
